Pylon Sub-stations – The Real Impact

The enablement works for a project of this size would be enormous. Consider the transformer units, required at the sub-stations being transported along the country roads in and around Ardleigh, and other rural locations. Clearly new access roads would also have to be built, causing further damage to the environment and disruption. Here’s an example.

Transformer units being transported from Ipswich docks to Bramford, Suffolk. The size and weight of the units meant the overall transport length was 77.5 metres and weighed a total of 550.56 tons.
